Systems change is an intentional process designed to alter the status quo by shifting structure of an identified system purposeful intentions. Systems change aims to bring about lasting change by altering underlying structure and supporting mechanisms which make the system operate in the way it does now. These can include policies, routine, relationships, resources, power structure and values.
The Systems Change Leadership Academy aims to confront the root causes of issues (rather than symptoms) by transforming structures, customs, mindsets, power dynamics and policies, and by strengthening collective power through active collaboration. This collaboration is rooted in shared goals to achieve lasting improvement to solve social problems at a local, national and global level.
An initiative of the Ubele Initiative, Nia Upeoni (derived from kiswahili intentions on the horizon), is an academy through which leadership training to black grassroots leaders in the UK and Africa will be able to access training on Systems change to equip them with knowledge, skills and tools needed to identify and address the root causes of systemic issues within their communities.
The training will empower grassroots leaders to understand complex systems, drive sustainable change, mobilise communities, advocate for policy reform, and build resilience.
